Overview | Arredondo Essay | Briggs Essay | Artists

LINE UP: Pattern Type Taxonomy, co-curated by Peter S Briggs, Helen DeVitt Jones Curator of Art, Museum of Texas Tech, and Joe Arredondo, Director of Landmark Arts, presents portrait photography by seven artists working in the United States. The exhibition provides a stew of contemporary photographic images that point to the artists’ typological or taxonomic practices while promoting opportunity for viewers to develop their own personal interpretations. Artists included in the exhibition are:

Keily Anderson-Staley (Houston, TX)
Evan Baden (Chicago, IL)
Daniel W. Coburn (Lawrence, KS)
Warren Harold (Houston, TX)
Dona Schwartz (Minneapolis, MN)
Robert Sebree (Los Angeles, CA)
Sarah Wilson (Austin, TX)

LINE UP is organized and presented in concert with the 46th Annual Texas Tech Comparative Literature Symposium Representing Reality in Text and Image: Cliché, Stereotypes, and Caricatures. A generous grant was received from the Ryla T. & John F. Lott Endowment for Excellence in the Visual Arts to support the collaboration.

Exhibitions and visiting speakers programs at the School of Art are supported by generous grants from the Helen Jones Foundation and The CH Foundation, both of Lubbock. Additional support comes from Cultural Activities Fees administered through the College of Visual & Performing Arts.
