Announcements from Arthur the Archivist
There have been no requests for back issues of the Bulletin for
about two years now. We have received two bundles of letters and other original notations
from Amy Snider during her tenure as NAEA News Columnist. My office here also houses
two drawers of back issues of the Bulletin and at least one copy of each Caucus Newsletter
as well as issues of Eastern Arts Association newsletters, School Arts Magazines
from the 1930s and other sundry items from my own collections. It all feeds into
my interests in the history of art education and the American Arts and Crafts movement.
(I’m beginning to have a difficult time moving around in my own university office-it
looks like a flea market!)
I have just completed a new graduate course proposal for a course in the History
of Art Education. Most important is that the course will be taught in the context
of current social issues. It will be required of studio majors who are seeking art
education certification. I’d value hearing from others who are also teaching such
courses.
I soon hope to get back to a project I started some time ago: indexing all articles
in the Bulletin by author. I left off with #9 and hope to regain momentum. When completed,
the Index will be proofread and then sent to all Caucus members, probably for a small
charge.
If you want back issues of the Bulletin, the following are available at $17 each:
#10 (46 copies); #11 (44); #12 (23). Please write me at: Art Department -
Earl Hall, Southern Connecticut State University, 501 Crescent St.,
New Haven, CT 06515.
