Landmark Arts SRO Photo Gallery Presents
Like Panes of Glass by Libby Rowe
LUBBOCK – Landmark Arts at the Texas Tech University School of Art presents Like Panes of Glass by Libby Rowe, the second exhibition in the 2017-2018 SRO Photo Gallery Exhibition Series. Like Panes of Glass will be on view September 19th – October 15th, 2017. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
For Like Panes of Glass, Rowe explores the memorial construct of the modern family as an ideal and a reality. The images, drawn from her family albums, represent the idealized mode of the perfect family. Framed by the shapes of domestic items, the images are positioned to conceal imperfections, manufacturing an ideal family unit. Rowe is interested in breaking from traditional presentation strategies to engage viewers in a more interactive experience with the role of the photographic image.
Libby Rowe received her BFA from the University of Northern Iowa and her MFA from Syracuse University. Rowe's photographic series, Inside/Out and the installation (sub)Division were recently exhibited together at United Photo Industries in Brooklyn, New York. These works were also exhibited with Dwellings and Like Panes of Glass at Morlan Gallery in Lexington, Kentucky. Rowe resides and works in San Antonio, Texas.
