Parvin Mirzaei obtained a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology from the Center for Biotechnology and Genomics (CBG) at Texas Tech University(TTU) in 2016. Her main area of research and expertise is in the field of proteomics and glycomics using different mass spectrometers.

Her MS research project was titled, “The comparison of N-Glycomics of membrane protein with proteins of whole cell lysate of breast cancer cell lines”. She characterized the N-glycomic profile of membrane-bound proteins from six different breast cancer cell lines using LC-MS/MS, to determine if aberrant protein glycosylation can contribute in brain metastatic breast cancer. Prior to joining the CBG, Parvin worked in the laboratory of Professor Yehia Mechref in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Texas Tech University as a Research Assistant.  During this time, she gained extensive experience in different sample preparation protocols, development and optimization of different LC-MS/MS methods to facilitate proteomic, glycoproteomic and glycomic studies. Her latest research project involved work on developing a new method to release O-glycans from glycoproteins.  In this project,  a new enzyme, Pronase was used, to specifically release O-glycans.

Parvin is a co-author on four publications related to her work and research.
