Professional Experience

Ruchika Bhawal is our newest member of the Center for Biotechnology and Genomics joining in January 2016 as a Research Associate in Mass Spectrometry. Her main area of research is mass spectrometric based proteomics methods development using various types of  mass spectrometers.

She received her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Texas, Arlington (UTA) in 2015. Her graduate research focused on novel methods for identification of various posttranslational lipid modified proteins by mass spectrometry. She authored several publications in the journal, Analytical Chemistry. She is a co-inventor for a US patent with Dr. Purnendu Dasgupta of UTA concerning Cavity Enhanced Abosorption Measurements Across Broad Absorbance and Reflectivity Ranges. She has expertise in nanoHPLC and UPLC separation of peptides and knowledge of various mass spectrometers.

She received an award from the American Chemical Society (ACS) and scholarships from the University of Texas, Arlington
