City of Lubbock
With a population of 250,000 and home to Texas Tech University, Lubbock has been growing
at an average of 1.7 percent annually for many years making it the largest city in
West Texas. The City is governed by a Mayor and six Council Members who are elected
from six districts and serve four-year overlapping terms. The Mayor is elected at-large
and serves a two-year term.
The City is a full-service organization including electric, transit, commercial airport, water, water reclamation, and landfill operations. The City has a $734M annual budget, $604M Capital Improvement Program, and 2,200 FTE's.
