The recruiter often writes an evaluation report covering each person interviewed. His/her evaluation generally will cover appearance and mannerisms, communication and verbalization, social ability, adaptability, sensitivity to the needs of others, maturity, willingness to work, geographic flexibility, willingness to travel, willingness to follow through, and willingness to face reality. Before a candidate is contacted regarding the outcome of the interview, the recruiter may need to discuss the results with other representatives of the organization.

The next step may be written communication from the company’s home office advising you that they do not have a job for which to consider you at the present time—the nice turndown. Some employers may indicate they would like to keep your interview application on file for future reference. If they say this, they generally mean it. Most employers continually review their current application files over and over again, trying to match applicants with job opportunities. Provide whatever credentials, references, or transcripts are requested by the prospective employer as soon as possible. Be sure to write down the name, title and address of the recruiter. You should send a brief typed letter of appreciation for the interviewing opportunity.
