Government Relations at the Texas Veterans Commission

My experience with the University Career Center has been nothing short of amazing. I was unemployed for the better part of a year and about 5 months of utilizing their services had a dramatic effect not only on how my resume was structured, but more importantly, how I interviewed. It has been more than a year since the last time I utilized the services of the UCC, but what I learned from the UCC counselors has stuck with me. I utilized the services of Dr. Nicole Noble. I had already graduated by the time I looked into UCC services and was living at home far away from Lubbock. Dr. Noble would email with me daily, and counsel me once a week via Skype. One of the things that I feel really helped me, and continues to help me, was access to Optimal Resume.

Once I got a job offer, I was so thankful that the UCC was able to coach me on interviewing. My mock interviews were very similar to the actual interviews I had with potential employers. I worked enough with Dr. Noble that I could anticipate what questions would be asked of me. I was even prepared for follow up questions. I received my first job offer December 2016. I took that job, and received another more permanent offer the next month. After working that job for a year, I have finally received a big time offer with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission - the kind of job that Dr. Noble constantly told me I was capable of performing in. I cannot recommend their services to my fellow alumni enough.
