I used the University Career Center since my first year at Texas Tech. It was always reassuring to know that even if I didn't know what I needed help with, the UCC was always able to get me on a track and figure out next steps. I have participated in career fairs, practice interviews, resume workshops, mocktail parties, and of course come in for personal appointments to work on career development and advancement. The University Career Center served as a catalyst for what I hope to be a successful career ahead. I found that any assistance I needed was quickly and kindly met, and I never left any event or appointment without every answer. Currently, I work as an educator for Orange County Public Schools in Florida. I plan to use the Career Center services throughout the rest of my career.

After using the Career Center, I gained confidence in my career path and skills. I want to share the knowledge I have gained with others. One piece of advice I learned from the Career Center is to not be afraid to ask for help for something you don't understand. It is better to ask the question, than look foolish in an interview. Asking for help and advice is a sign of strength in a growing professional, not one of weakness. Additionally, I believe students should focus on their current career step. Once they have confidence in that, they can start looking ahead. I think people should always be working to better themselves, but remember we all take steps at different speeds.
