National Pan-Hellenic Council

The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Incorporated (NPHC) is a cooperative organization representing the interests of nine historically African-American Greek letter organizations. Founded in 1930, the NPHC was organized to allow greater collaboration between all nine fraternities and sororities in order to influence social action and change in the African American community. Locally, the Texas Tech Pan-Hellenic Council is the coordinating and governing body of the historically black fraternities and sororities at Texas Tech University. There are nine NPHC organizations internationally, seven of these organizations are registered at Texas Tech.

Some activities of an NPHC fraternity or sorority may be community clean-ups, tutoring, step-shows, big brother and big sister mentoring, social mixers, and educational programming. NPHC fraternities provide for community involvement and close friendships for a lifetime.
