The Masked Rider

Amy Bell

Amy Bell, a junior Animal & Food Science major from Kermit , Texas will represent Texas Tech University as the famed Masked Rider of 2006-2007.  Throughout the next year, Amy, along with mascot Midnight Matador, will promote spirit within the university and goodwill for Texas Tech at rodeos, parades, and many other school and civic functions across Texas .

The Masked Rider is a mysterious and striking symbol of Texas Tech school spirit and pride.  Mounted on a black quarter horse and wearing black riding clothes, mask, bolero hat, and red and black cape, the Masked Rider leads the football team on to the field for a Red Raider victory.  Amy is the 45th  individual to serve as the Masked Rider as the program enters its fifty-second year.

Amy is the daughter of John and Sylvia Bell of Kermit.  She is an active member of the Texas Tech Ranch Horse Team, secretary for the Collegiate Horsemen’s Society, Alpha Lambda Delta Scholastic Honor Society, Texas Tech Horse Judging, as well as Phi Eta Sigma Scholastic Honor Society.  She has been named to the Texas Tech Dean’s List for the past five semesters.  Amy has trained and provided equestrian lessons while working at the Texas Tech Equestrian Center and at the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming .

Amy is excited about representing Texas Tech.  She says, “The Masked Rider is the emblem of Texas Tech University and embodies the principles of respect, honor, and school spirit.  It is a great honor to serve as the 2006-2007 Masked Rider.”
