Research Interests

A Ph.D. candidate from Lubbock, Texas specializing in stochastic simulation of wind engineering phenomenon. Specifically, hurricane wind field simulations using publicly available data. The eventuality of the wind simulation model is its implementation into a stochastic algorithm used to predict structural failure mechanisms in wood frame construction. The algorithm offers a scientific framework to quantify sequential, conditional failure probabilities for targeted structural limit states. The algorithm takes both extreme wind, and extreme surge loads into consideration and offers a way to assess failure probabilities when no evidence remains making direct forensic analyses are impossible. For four years, he has also worked with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as a member of several Mitigation Assessment Teams (MAT). The MATs studied above and below ground storm shelters and the effects of tornados on emergency response operations in regions directly affected by tornados.
