Research Interests

Sevan Mirzaian received his Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hydraulic) from Azad Polytechnic University in 2002. In 2003, he joined the oil and gas industry as a design engineer focusing on offshore structures. Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to the position of project engineer in the biggest offshore and marine company in Iran (IMICO) in EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) projects. In the last years of his career in the Middle East, Sevan received his most significant promotion as a Project Co-Manager in the company. While working as a professional engineer Sevan developed an interest in research in the offshore geotechnical area with focus on the fixed offshore platform foundations. In 2011, he immigrated to the US and obtained EIT qualifications from the California Board of Professional Engineers. In the spring of 2014, Sevan joined the graduate program in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering at Texas Tech University. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in civil engineering with a focus on geotechnical engineering. He also serves as a teaching assistant in the area of geotechnical engineering.
