Personal Information:
Theodore F. Wiesner (Ted) is a licensed professional
engineer with 11 years' academic experience
and 10 years' industrial experience. His
research has two major focuses: 1) bioengineering, and 2) computer-based instruction for engineers.
Dr. Wiesner has investigated intracellular biochemical reactions with mathematical modeling and advanced image processing, the optimal control of bioreactors, and the fluid mechanics of blood. He has developed, assessed and disributed software for learning unit opeations in chemical engineering. He has developed an animated tutorial describing the cardiovascular system from whole organ to subcellular level. He has also contributed to the area of pipeline safety.
Prior to his academic career, Dr. Wiesner worked as a project engineer in charge of the design, construction, and start-up of activated sludge wastewater treatment plants, and as a plant engineer in polypropylene manufacturing.
