CHEM 1307 Assessment Results

Interpreting your Chemistry Placement Exam score:

If you score 21-35 correct out of the 35 questions (60-100%), you may enroll in CHEM 1307. You also have the option to take CHEM 1301, if you wish to review at this level in advance of taking CHEM 1307. Other options for review are as follows:

1. CHEM 1101-D0x – General Chemistry Bridge Course (Distance Education section)

2. ALEKS* assessment tools

If you score 15-20 correct out of the 35 questions (43-57%), enrollment in CHEM 1307 requires one of the following:

1. Completion of CHEM 1301 Preparatory Chemistry with a grade of C- or better.

2. Completion of CHEM 1101-00x (Face-to-Face General Chemistry Bridge Course) with passing performance on the course homework and final  examination.

3. Completion of the ALEKS* assessment at the 95% content mastery level. The ALEKS assessment must be finished before 11:59 PM on August 17, 2014 to apply to the Fall 2014 CHEM 1307 registration.

4. Self-study and attainment of the passing (>69%) score on the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry written assessment examination. Students who wish to take this exam for Spring 2015 registration should contact the Chemistry Academic Office (CHEM 109 - 806.834.8917) by Friday, Oct 17, 2014 to make a reservation and obtain the exam schedule.

If you score 0-14 correct out of the 35 questions (0-40%), enrollment in CHEM 1307 requires one of the following:

1. Completion of CHEM 1301 Preparatory Chemistry with a grade of C- or better.

2. Completion of the ALEKS* assessment at the 95% content mastery level. The ALEKS assessment must be finished before 11:59 PM on August 17, 2014 to apply to the Fall 2014 CHEM 1307 registration.

3. Self-study and attainment of the passing (>69%) score on the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry written assessment examination. Students who wish to take this exam for Spring 2015 registration should contact the Chemistry Academic Office (CHEM 109 - 806.834.8917) by Friday, Oct 17, 2014 to make a reservation and obtain the exam schedule.
