Student Advising—Capable Guidance

CMLL administration embraces the principle that quality planning and consultation with an advisor is critical. We firmly believe that academic advising is an ongoing process that connects the student to their program of study, to CMLL as a department, and ultimately to the University.

CMLL strives to provide accessible advising, for the full spectrum of students—those seeking information at the “degree requirements” level, those exploring a minor option, and students who wish to major. Our advisors not only represent and interpret departmental or University policies and procedures for the student, but also help the student successfully navigate the various organizational networks of the institution. (CMLL currently has a mix of faculty and professional advisors available to students, depending upon particular programs.)

CMLL Advising, Recruitment & Retention Center

The CMLL Advising, Recruitment & Retention Center is located on the second floor of the Foreign Languages Building, in rooms 200A, 200B and 219. Students can “drop-in” during advising hours, and can also set specific appointments. Student Tip:  Please check in with the Information Desk, where you can sign-in on a roster sheet; this assures structured and fair service to all (especially when such student visits are frequent and high in number).

The Advising, Recruitment & Retention Center also assists with the dispersal of scholarship information and provides guidance on application processes.
