Curriculum
The IEP provides various levels of English instruction from beginning to advanced as well as a university/career prep level. You will be tested at the beginning of your studies to determine your command of the language and placed at a learning level appropriate to your proficiency. Class size is limited to provide intensive, individual attention. Many different teaching styles are used in the Intensive English Program, including computer aided instruction. Some classes utilize the Internet in the classroom. You will normally spend four hours a day, five days a week in classes. Regular attendance is required. In the past, we have taken our students to museums, art exhibits, basketball games, restaurants, and ranches. We have gone bowling and ice skating together. We often arrange visits to events happening around our city to help to introduce our students to Lubbock. We have also visited places outside of Lubbock. These trips are an excellent way to practice oral English skills and have fun at the same time. |
