The Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures (CMLL) at Texas Tech University invites you to participate in the CMLL Language Olympics 2014. This competition will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas. The participants in the Language Olympics will compete in the areas of language competence(American Sign Language/ASL, German, French, Latin, & Spanish), cultural (German, French, & Spanish), and general background information. The content for each of the events will be developed in accordance with the Texas State Standards for each level.
To accommodate the various learning levels of the students, the Language Olympics will be conducted on two different levels: Basic (1-2 years of language instruction) and Intermediate (3-4 years).

Teachers may nominate two candidates per team and one team per level and language. Example, Hawthorne High School has ASL, German I & II, and Spanish I, II, III, & IV language programs. Hawthorne High School can submit a total of four teams:
1 ASL Team (2 students): Basic
1 German Team (2 students): Basic
2 Spanish Teams (2 students each): 1 Basic & 1 Intermediate
Teachers may register their teams by going to the “Registration” tab, completing the registration form, and submitting. You may also send any registration questions to the e-mail below.
