I was born and raised in West Texas. Completed a BA in Spanish/Business from West Texas A&M. Upon completion of my BA, I joined the U.S. Army as an Arabic Cryptologic Voice Interceptor. While I was in the military, I served two tours of duty in Iraq and was also an Arabic language instructor at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC), Monterey, CA. I obtained my MA in Curriculum & Instruction in 2010. Prior to coming to Texas Tech, I was Director of Translation / Interpretation and Arabic Language Acquisition programs for the DLIFLC. In addition to being director of the LLL&RC, I am also currently a graduate student in CMLL. I am married to Linda and have two daughters in junior high and high school.
