Janet Pérez (Ph.D., Duke). Paul Whitfield Horn Professor of Romance Languages (since 1986) and Qualia Chair of Spanish (since 2000). Phi Beta Kappa (Duke) for graduate career.

Primary Area: Spain (Peninsular), Twentieth and Twenty-First Century Narrative, Theatre, Poetry and Essay

Secondary Area: Spanish and Latin American Women Writers and Gender Studies

Third Area: Mexican and Caribbean Contemporary Writers (Narrative, Theatre, Poetry)

Two research projects in progress are a book on Contemporary Spanish Women Poets, vol. 2, 1970-present, and a second book to be entitled The Novel of Spanish Exile (1939-1980).

65 theses and dissertations have been completed under her direction with 10-12 in progress.
