Dr. Scarborough

Tuesday 6:00-8:50 pm

This course is required for all graduate students pursuing the Graduate Certificate in Medieval and Renaissance Studies. The course will introduce students to scholarship in medieval and renaissance studies through presentations by faculty affiliated with the Graduate Certificate program. Affiliated faculty include professors from the departments of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures, English, History, Art History, and Music. We will focus on research materials for scholarship in medieval and renaissance studies and identify resources here at TTU pertinent to research in these areas. Students will learn about journals, conferences, and organizations associated with medieval and renaissance studies. The class will also address practical matters such as working with manuscripts, gaining access to manuscript collections, the basic of paleography and transcription, and other issues related to archival research. Each student will also work individually with the instructor on a current project as well as with other members of the class in sessions of peer-review.
