Spanish 4000 and 5000 Level
First Summer Session 2004--5 weeks


Program Description
: Texas Tech University is offering a unique opportunity for students to live, learn, travel and enjoy the life, culture, and Spanish language for five weeks in Sevilla, while at the same time earning six hours of credit at the 4000 (senior level) or 5000 (graduate level) in Spanish. The program is directed and the courses taught by Texas Tech University Spanish professors.

Dates : May 25 - June 30, 2004, or May 26 - July 1, 2004.

Location : The program is based in Sevilla, España, a beautiful city in Andalucia in southern Spain. It is a vibrant, dynamic city with many things to see and do. The location of Sevilla provides convenient access for our excursions to Granada, Cordoba, Madrid, Toledo and the beaches of the Costa del Sol.

Eligibility: The program is open to undergraduate students from any accredited United States college or university who have completed at least one course at the 3000 (junior) level, and to graduate students who are working on their M.A. or Ph.D. degrees. Participants will enroll as Texas Tech University students. Enrollment is limited to 25 people.

Course and Credit : 6 hours credit at the upper-level undergraduate or at the graduate level.

Lodging : All students will be housed in Sevilla with Texas Tech approved Spanish families. Families are carefully selected and screened so as to provide students with a positive living and cultural experience.

Estimated Cost $3495 program costs. Add approximately $900 for tuition and fees for Texas residents, for a global total of approximately $4395. This covers all costs of the program from departure to return. The cost may increase slightly, but should not increase more than $100 over the projection. The program costs include: round trip airfare, Lubbock-Sevilla-Lubbock, all lodging and meals in Sevilla, excursions to Cordoba, Granada, Madrid, Toledo, and the coast, all ground transportation and tickets to museums and archeological sites.

Scholarships : A number of scholarships are available through the Office of International Affairs on campus. These scholarships are for all Texas Tech students, and generally run from $300-$1200.

Application/Payments : Applications will be available at the beginning of Spring Semester. Completed application and a $100 non-refundable deposit will be required ASAP to insure your place in the program. Deadline for all other forms and payments is May 15, 2004. In an emergency situation, or in case of guaranteed financial aid, some arrangements may be made with regard to the deadline date for payment.
