French Scholarship Opportunities
Outstanding French majors are invited to apply for scholarships offered through the French Program of the Department of Classical and Modern Languages & Literatures. The Christine de Pizan, the Beatrice Alexander, and the Wendell McClendon Scholarships are awarded every spring to French majors. The application deadlines are in March. Applications are available in the main CMLL office, room 201, Foreign Languages Building.
Students should also be aware of extra-departmental funding opportunities at the University level (General University Scholarships: http://www.scholarships.ttu.edu/scholarship.aspx/) and through the College of Arts & Sciences, which offers merit-based Academic Achievement Scholarships and need-based H.Y. For French majors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the study of French as evidenced both by their academic record (minimum 3.0 GPA) and by their participation in programs and activities sponsored by the Department. The award was established by the Beta Xi Chapter of Pi Delta Phi, national French honor society, for Beatrice W. Alexander, Associate Professor of French in the Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures and is administered by the Department Chairperson.
Wendell E. McClendon Scholarship in French

For a French major, preferably from a small town, who is committed to graduating from the French program at Texas Tech. Selection is based on scholastic ability and financial need. The award, which is administered by the Department Chairperson, was established by friends, family, and colleagues of Professor Wendell E. McClendon, in memory of his enthusiasm for teaching French language and literature.
ENROLLMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR NONDEGREE STUDENTS AND MEMBERS OF THE LUBBOCK COMMUNITY: Persons possessing a bachelors degree or higher may take undergraduate language courses as a Nondegree Student. Admission is simple: Obtain an application at www.ttu.edu/gradschool, apply for admission as a Post Graduate (PRGD) Nondegree Student, pay the $50 application fee, and submit transcripts of all previous college level study. When admitted enroll in the appropriate language course. Once admitted you may register indefinitely in undergraduate TTU courses.
