W. R. (Rick) Hamm is a native of Childress, Texas and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1970. He was also a Sloan Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received a master’s degree in Management in 1986.

In 1970, Rick Hamm joined Continental Pipe Line, which is a subsidiary of Conoco, as an engineer in Spokane, Washington. He held a variety of engineering and management positions with the pipeline company before becoming Manager of Gas Supply in Conoco’s Natural Gas Products department in 1980. After serving as Marketing Manager and Operations Manager for that department he became the Manager of Conoco’s Product Supply and Trading department in 1986. He later served as Executive Assistant to the Conoco President and Chief Executive Officer. In 1989, he was promoted to Manager of Branded Marketing for Conoco, and in 1994 he became the General Manager, Gulf Coast Refining and Marketing. He currently is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Conoco Limited in England.

Mr. Hamm is a charter member of the Civil Engineering Advisory Council and the Civil Engineering Academy, and served on the Dean’s Council in the College of Engineering. He is also Vice–President of the United Kingdom Petroleum Industry Association, a member of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of commerce in London, and the CEO Council of the Institute of Petroleum. He enjoys, golf, skiing, reading, and travel. He and his wife, Jamie have been involved in civic and church activities wherever their travels have taken them. He has been involved in church youth activities for over 20 years.

His wife, Jamie graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics Education. They have two sons–Jeff Hamm and his wife Jenni of Dallas, and Chad and his wife Jennifer of College Station.

He and his wife, Jamie, have two sons.
