Chad Smith received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 2001. Upon graduation from Texas Tech University, Smith worked for United Supermarkets in Lubbock, Texas as a database analyst. He then went on to work for Alamosa PCS and Palm Harbor Homes before returning to United Supermarkets as the manager of software support. Smith continued his career with United Supermarkets, becoming director of information technology in 2011. Smith is now the vice president of information technology for Lucky's Market, a fast-growing startup with 20 organic foods supermarkets across 11 states.

Smith has received numerous professional achievements such as the Outstanding Service Award from the Texas Tech Rawls College of Business. He has been inducted into the Whitacre College of Engineering Computer Science Academy is an active member of the Texas Tech Computer Science Advisory Board. Smith is also passionate about giving back to his community through organizations such as the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, and Meals on Wheels.
