Engineering Ambassadors

1. When did EAs first start?

  • The first group of Engineering Ambassadors began their duties in 1985. Being chosen to become a member makes you part of a long lasting and honored group of students.

2. What is the process of becoming an EA?

  • Pick up application at the information desk in the Engineering Opportunities Center when applications become available. You will begin receiving emails about the application due date around this time. Turn in application to the main office of the on the due date by 5 pm. Applications chosen will receive an invite to a Meet & Greet. Those chosen to move forward will be interviewed by the current officers of the Engineering Ambassador organization. From here, the interviewees selected will become EAs!

3. Will I be given any trainings to prepare me to fulfill my responsibilities?

  • Yes! All new EAs go through New Member Training where we will help prepare you to be an EA. In addition, we have EA General Training every year as a refresher for all members. New members are also assigned a mentor who will be available to help answer questions throughout your transition. We also have biweekly meetings where members are encouraged to ask any questions they may have.

4. What are some of the major events EAs help out with?

  • Some of the many events that we help out with are: Launch Your Future in Engineering (LYFE), Engineering Kick-Off, Whitacre College of Engineering Job Fair, and Engineers Week. In addition to these events, we also help out at workshops, recruitment events, tour shifts, resume critiques, and info sessions. Members are also required to attend biweekly meetings.

5. What are some of the characteristics are you looking for in an EA?

  • We are looking for hard-working and humble engineers who love Texas Tech. Our members should be professional, passionate, responsible, and genuine. Members will be asked to perform multiple duties throughout the semesters and represent the College of Engineering at all times, so they must be committed, positive, and friendly.
