Biography
Dr. Hashemi joined Texas Tech University in 1991, and was promoted to Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering in 1997 and Professor of Mechanical Engineering in 2004. He is currently serving as an Adjunct Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He has a diverse teaching and research background with emphasis on engineering materials, mechanics of materials, and biomechanics. He has received numerous teaching awards including Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa Award and President’s Excellence in Teaching Award. Hashemi has co–authored an undergraduate textbook in materials science and engineering as well as over thirty journal articles. His current research focus is in the area of orthopedic issues and biomechanics of Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury studying factors that pre–dispose females to astonishingly higher levels of ACL injury.
