Student Housing

Red Raider Fans

Graduate students have several options for housing while studying at Texas Tech. All graduate students can apply to live in one of our 17 on–campus student dormatories by contacting Housing and Dining Services. Their office is located in Room 106 of Doak Hall; they may be contacted by phone: 806.742.2661. In addition, the Student Government Association publishes an off–campus housing guide for students. They may be reached at 806.742.3631 and are located on the third floor of the Student Union Building. You can find more information on off–campus housing at http://www.lubbockhospitality.net/apartments/ or at http://www.lubbockapartments.com/.

Student Organizations

There are numerous professional and volunteer–based student organizations at Texas Tech and specific the engineering disciplines. The Underground Revolution helps out the homeless in the Lubbock community, the Pegasus organizations helps foster children graduate from high school and attend college, and the Double T organization encourages healthy living in people of all age groups. We also host chapters of the Society of Hispanic Engineers, The Society of Chemical Engineers, Association for Computing Machinery, and many more. Check out our Student Organizations page to see all the opportunities to get involved in the community.

Rec Center

When you’re not studying or working, the Texas Tech Recreation Center is a great place to relax and have fun. We host several Intramural Sports including football, soccer, tennis, and 9–ball. The Rec Center also has a brand new Leisure Pool complete with a water slide and a lap swimming area. You can even get a Therapeutic Massage. The Rec Center is the place to work out, cool off, and relax for all Texas Tech students.

Big 12 Sports

As a member of the Big 12, Texas Tech often competes against some of the best schools in the nation in a multitude of sports. While we’ve always been competitive in men’s and women’s football, basketball, and baseball/softball, our men’s footbal team has recently gained national recognition. Last year the Red Raiders managed to defeat the #1 team and are ranked among the top ten teams in the nation. We have some of the most modern sports facilities in the nation and admission is free to all Texas Tech students.
