Broadcast Journalism

I am Christiana Elgin, a senior broadcast journalism major from Houston. I am completing minors in political science and Spanish, and upon graduation in May 2012 would like to pursue graduate studies in the field of law. Opportunities within the College of Media & Communication and across campus have led me to vast experiences within and beyond the field of journalism.

During the summer and fall of 2010 I served two internships on Capitol Hill with Congressman Pete Olson and Congresswoman Kay Granger. It was at this time I gained a much needed exposure to the importance of details, both in written and verbal communication. Since my time in Washington, I have worked for several media organizations including the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and Sports Radio 1340. Volunteer commitments with various service organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation and CASA have also played a great role in my collegiate career.

My objectives, both academic and personally, have all shaped who I am as a student and contributing member of society. I am looking forward to my time on the Dean's Student Council.
