Public Relations

My name is Chinwe Obi, and I am a senior Public Relations and Technical Communication double major, with a minor in Media & Communication, from Dallas, Texas. I have been a member of the College of Media & Communication ever since I arrived as a freshman, four years ago. I recently added my second major, and discovered my two loves, research and technical writing.

I have been fortunate enough to receive an excellent education from all my professors. With the guidance of Dr. Shafer, I was able to present my first poster at the Undergraduate Research Conference, this past year. Also, with the support and excellent mentoring capabilities of Patrick Merle, I have learned to appreciate everything this college provides, and so much more.

As an active member in President’s Select, Chancellor’s Ambassadors, Mentor Tech, and now Dean’s Council, I feel it is important to give back to the university that has given me so much. I can’t wait to be an alumna, so I can create my own scholarship fund. I completed my internship with the Lubbock Arts Alliance this past spring and will intern with X-Fab during the summer. Upon graduation, I plan to attend graduate school and continue my journey to earning a PhD. My dream jobs include working with Southwest Airlines, writing grants for non-profits, and potentially helping to promote veteran affairs in D.C.
