Print Journalism, Marketing
The impact that news has on political relationships and diplomacy is immeasurable. Witnessing first hand this impact, while living in Sri Lanka as a teenager during its 26-year-long civil war, I realized that journalism was for me. Growing up moving from third world country to third world country due to my father's diplomatic and military work gave me a view of what is really taking place in countries the U.S. works with.
As a senior double major in Print Journalism and Marketing at the Rawls College of Business, I've managed to build my portfolio through the programs offered at this university. I did an internship with U.S. Rep. Charles A. Gonzalez, D-Texas spring 2012 in Washington D.C. Then I interned with Major League Soccer in New York City for the summer as a bilingual editor. Currently I work as the News Director the Hub@TTU a new online news source through the College of Media and Communication which promotes creative methods for disseminating campus and community wide news. This university and this college have the tools to get you where you want to be in media and communications.
