My name is Jamie Mathis and I am from Austin, Texas. I am an Advertising major minoring in General Business and I hope to continue my education further and receive my MBA with a focus in Marketing. I have always had a desire to connect with other people in any way possible, and studying Media & Communication has helped me fuel this desire. Mass Communication studies has always been in my family and because of this, I am incredibly passionate with my areas of study and my education.
I am currently involved in the Alpha Phi sorority at Texas Tech, and have participated in their philanthropy committees, intramural sport teams and big and little mentorship. I have also been a member in the Greek Leadership program, and hope to further my experience in the Greek leadership community in the near future.
I believe communication is key to how our world operates, so as a member and officer of the Dean’s Council, I hope to communicate how important careers in Media & Communication are. Whether it is in Advertising or Journalism, I think all Mass Communication majors contribute an important part in the development and future of our world. Without these people our world would be nowhere near what it is today. I wish to see others realize this, and my goal is to make the Dean's Council a profound leader in this cause.
