Job Description

The College of Media & Communication at Texas Tech University seeks two (2) Assistant Professors of Practice in Strategic Communication (based in the Department of Public Relations) to teach in the college's undergraduate and professional master's degree programs. The ideal candidate will have a master's or doctorate degree, teaching experience, and significant professional experience in public relations, advertising, and/or marketing. Experience in media management, entrepreneurship, social media, digital media production and/or sports will be considered a plus. We're especially interested in candidates with professional media experience, media industry contacts, and experience teaching online. Ideally, these positions will be based in Lubbock, but an exceptional candidate may request the Dallas-area as a duty point.

Each hire will teach seven courses a year primarily in the online environment. Professors of practice are expected to stay current in the field and maintain professional relevancy through industry engagement (e.g., publishing in trade journals, leadership in professional associations, thought leadership, consulting, media outreach, creative production, client work, etc.).
