Faculty, students and alumni to participate in AEJMC Annual conference.

More than two dozen College of Media & Communication faculty members, students and alumni will participate in the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) Annual conference taking place August 6-9, 2018, in Washington, D.C.

College of Media & Communication scholars will be presenting their research, participating in discussions and moderating panel sessions.

The theme of the AEJMC 2018 conference is titled “Strengthening our community: Working together to build scholars, educators, and engaged academic citizens.”

“AEJMC is one of the most important conferences in our discipline,” reported Dr. Glenn Cummins, associate dean for research in the College of Media & Communication. “It's a chance for scholars from across a wide range of specializations to get together to discuss their research, see what others are doing, and generate some really useful discussion.”

Texas Tech University will have an impressive turnout of faculty, current graduate students and alumni at one of the largest conferences for media and communication scholars.

“In terms of size, this is one of the three or four biggest academic conferences in our discipline, and it attracts some of the leading communication scholars from around the world. So, it's very important for our college to be a part of that exchange of ideas,” Cummins said.

David D. Perlmutter, Ph.D., professor in and dean of the College of Media & Communication, was elected vice president of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) for 2017-18. With his election as vice president, Perlmutter will ascend the leadership ladder within the organization to become president-elect for 2018-19 and president for the 2019-2020 term.
