2014 Outstanding Alumni

Tim Loecker graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in public relations from Texas Tech University's College of Media & Communication. Loecker currently serves as senior vice president in the Dallas office of Weber Shandwick, a leading global public relations firm. He also serves on the college's National Professional Advisory Board.

During his career at Weber Shandwick, Loecker has had the chance to work extensively with client American Airlines. Loecker managed the CNBC documentary “Inside American Airlines: A Week in the Life” with travel editor Peter Greenberg, from concept to broadcast. The documentary, which allowed viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the company, was the highest rated documentary ever for the network.

Loecker also led a global communications campaign for American Airlines in order to retain Japan Airlines in American's oneworld alliance. Japan Airlines was considering leaving oneworld for a competing airline partnership, which would have cut American's access to the Asian market. Loecker worked with a team comprised of Weber Shandwick and American Airlines personnel in Tokyo to develop a corporate crisis strategy across different cultures and media. The strategy was a success and Japan Airlines continued its relationship with American Airlines.

Loecker has experience leading strategic communication campaigns for Fortune 500 companies as well as start-up enterprises. He currently leads the national storytelling program for client U. S. Army and also formerly served as a client lead for American Airlines. Loecker has been recognized by many public relations and related organizations, including PRSA, PRWeek, IPRA and SABRE, for his many accomplishments.
