Organizational communication focuses on the intersection of two complex concepts – organization and communication. Organizational communication involves social collectives embedded in larger environment in which people influences one another in the process of accomplishing collective and individual goals. The study of organizational communication, then, is the consideration of how the context of the organization influences communication processes. To this end, scholars have explored and are exploring how face to face, electronic mediated, and new media influence communication in organization be it group, interpersonal, intergroup, and inter-organizational. Furthermore, organizational communication encompasses a variety of industries, be it healthcare, governmental, and non governmental. Scholars in the College of Media & Communication are experts in organizational communication who look at how communication is used within and outside organizations and how it affects their overall mission and objective.
