Degree Requirements/Coursework: Public Relations
The Department of Public Relations offers a 120-hour degree program leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. Widely recognized as one of the fastest growing career fields worldwide, public relations has become the most popular program in the College of Media and Communication. Dynamic and engaging coursework emphasizes how to build and manage relationships with your publics; strategic campaign planning; integrating traditional, digital, online and social media; persuasive communication techniques including writing, graphic design and content creation; advanced social media monitoring and analytics; global communication; and a variety of courses on specific PR topics. Graduates will be prepared for technical and managerial roles in public relations firms or as communication staff at corporate, nonprofit, entertainment, government and other practice areas.
