Research: Dr. Callison has authored or co-authored 42 refereed research publications appearing in Media Psychology, Journal of Communication, Communication Research, Journal of Marketing Communications, Public Relations Review, Journal of Public Relations Research and Journal of Applied Social Psychology among others. He has authored or co-authored 57 refereed conference papers, and he has secured $117,028 in external research funding. Callison's research focuses on two main streams:
  1. source and message factors underlying the persuasive ability of mass mediated materials
  2. structural and content features that affect recall and attitude/opinion formation

Experience: Dr. Callison currently works as a consultant on communication campaigns and communication research projects. He has worked in corporate public relations and in newspaper.

Leadership / awards: Dr. Callison's research has won 10 different conference awards. In 2005 and 2011, he received the Barnie E. Rushing, Jr., Faculty Distinguished Research Award. He has also been a college nominee for the Chancellor's Distinguished Research Award, a school nominee for the Faculty Distinguished Research Award, and has received funding for his research from four different bodies that has totaled $117,028. Twice he has received teaching awards.
