Research: His research interests include political public relations, communication, social capital and citizen engagement, new media and politics, framing and media relations. His research has appeared in such journals as the Journal of Public Relations Research, Public Relations Review, International Journal of Strategic Communication, The Public Relations Journal, Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, Social Science Computer Review, Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, and Journal of Communication. He has presented numerous peer-refereed conference papers at AEJMC, IPRRC and MAPOR.

Experience:He was Director of CATI-equipped Communication Research Center at Austin Peay State University and was program analyst at the University of Wisconsin - Extension. He was also Editor and Host of the English News Service of the campus radio station at Nanjing Normal University.
Leadership / awards: He is past president of the Midwest Association for Public Opinion Research (MAPOR) and Susanne A. Roschwalb Award Committee Co-Chair of the Public Relations Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) in 2011. He received the Texas Tech Alumni Association New Faculty Award, the Parkinson Award for Public Relations Scholarship, and was a fellow of the Institute for Inclusive Excellence. He also received the Fellowship Award from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
