Research: Dr. Luo's research interests include new media effects, political communication, international communication and communication theory, particularly agenda-setting theory. Her current research focuses on the social and political impact of new media, digital media literacy, web credibility, and online social capital. Her work has appeared on referred journals such as International Communication Gazette, Feminist Media Studies, and the Chinese Journal of Communication.

Experience: Dr. Luo previously worked as an assistant professor in the College of Journalism and Communication at Hunan University in China. When pursuing her doctoral degree at Indiana University, she served as an associate instructor, teaching news writing and visual communication.
Leadership / awards: Dr. Luo was awarded several competitive fellowships and grants. She was the recipient of the 2009 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Student Abroad. She received Grant-in-Aid of Doctoral Research Award at Indiana University.
