Experience:Nearly 16 years in award-winning journalism as a newspaper owner, publisher, editor and reporter; seven years of higher education public relations and administration. Wernsman was the editor and then publisher of the Big Spring Herald for several years; he was editor of the Huntsville Item for three years. He began teaching at Texas Tech in 1994. In addition, he is the administrator of the grammar-spelling-punctuation test and coordinates the News Writing lectures and writing labs. He was coordinator for the Tech Honors Program for two years.
