Research: Mr. Brewton is the author of a book on the savings and loan scandal, "The Mafia, CIA and George Bush" (SPI, New York, 1992), a novel set on the South Plains, 'Lone Star Law' (2007)

Experience:15 years of newspaper reporting with the Houston Chronicle and the Houston Post, and he practiced law in Houston for five years.

Leadership / awards: Faculty editor of the Mass Communicator; more than 20 reporting awards, including a Katie Award from the Dallas Press Club, first place in public service from the Texas APME, and the PEN Center USA West Literary Award for journalism.
