Technical Communication & Rhetoric
A degree program with infinite possibilities.
Our B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. programs offer students with exceptional ability and potential to concentrate on their art and the rigorous academic study of literature. This powerful combination opens doors for many academic opportunities not afforded to typical English or Mass Communications students.
- National leadership in technology and teaching
- A record of student achievement and job placement
- A program culture that emphasizes personal attention
- An award-winning chapter of the Society for Technical Communication
Texas Tech offers degree programs in technical communication at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. The Master of Arts in Technical Communication and the PhD in Technical Communication and Rhetoric are available both as resident and online programs.
We teach courses at the sophomore and junior levels that help students in various majors develop their writing abilities.
An active chapter of the Society for Technical Communication complements classroom instruction. Fifteen tenure-line faculty specialize in technical communication and rhetoric, offering expertise in a range of areas.
Facilities include five computer classrooms and a usability lab with video editing capabilities. Job placement for graduates of all programs is excellent.
