Identity Guidelines

Official Identities

Our official identity system consists of three primary types of identities: our Academic Coat of Arms and Signatures, our Spirit and Athletic Marks, and our Official Seal and Signature. Each has a distinct role to play within our system. By following these guidelines, you will help to ensure their proper use.

Discontinue Use of the Original Official Seal, Coat of Arms, Logotype and Individual University Unit Identities

The original Texas Tech University Official Seal, Coat of Arms, logotype and individual university unit identities will no longer be used. Materials bearing them should be replaced with the new Official Seal, Official Signature, Coat of Arms or the appropriate Academic Signature as soon as inventories expire.

Our integrated identity system has solutions for every institutional unit. Contact your supervisor, dean or vice president to assist you in determining the appropriate identity application. Contact Margaret Lutherer in the Office of Communications and Marketing at (806) 742-2136 for additional assistance.

Spirit and Athletic Marks

The Double T is our most beloved and visible symbol. It is the ultimate representation of the spirit of Texas Tech and is an ongoing reminder of what it means to be a Red Raider.

Along with the Masked Rider and other Spirit and Athletic Marks, the Double T is part of an important family of symbols that define who we are.
