New Presidential Lecture &
Performance Series
Starts in September
To enrich the lives of Texas Tech University students and the Lubbock community, Texas Tech’s Office of the President offers a new Presidential Lecture & Performance Series beginning in September 2006.
Programs ranging from modern dance to nonfiction and anthropology will bring leading scholars and artists from around the country to mingle with Texas Tech’s own distinguished faculty, students and staff to exchange expertise, research and talents.
“The primary purposes of this series are to enrich the academic experience for our students, to enhance our academic programs and to provide outreach opportunities between campus and community,” said Dr. Mary Jane Hurst, performance series organizer and faculty assistant to the president.
The first event will be a week in residence by Taylor 2 of New York, Sept. 25-29. Taylor 2 is a modern dance troupe created by Paul Taylor, who at 75 is described as the most sought-after choreographer working today.
