Opera, Literature, Education and "Happyness"
President’s office announces Spring 2007 offerings for Presidential Lecture and Performance Series.
Written by John Davis
Beginning in February, Texas Tech’s Office of the President offers the Spring 2007 program for the Presidential Lecture & Performance Series. The series was created to enrich the lives of Texas Tech University students and the Lubbock community.
Programs ranging from opera to literature and education to the pursuit of “Happyness” will bring leading scholars and artists from around the country to mingle with Texas Tech’s own distinguished faculty, students and staff to exchange expertise, research and talents.
“Our aim is to enrich the intellectual and cultural atmosphere on campus,” said Mary Jane Hurst, performance series organizer and faculty assistant to the president. “All events have an academic connection. The primary purposes of this series are to enrich the academic experience for our students, to enhance our academic programs and to provide outreach opportunities between campus and community.”
