Texas Tech Celebrates Black History Month

The following is a calendar of events celebrating Black History Month.

Black History Month Banquet – A tribute to Eric Strong, featuring Brad Leali

Black History Month Art Display
Texas Tech University Libraries

Friday, March 9 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Black History Month Student Research Symposium and Reception
Basement Room 001, College of Education

The symposium will feature paper presentations and posters sessions that highlight the Black History Month theme. Research and artistic work involving black people or issues relevant to people of African descent. A reception for graduate students will follow the symposium. The symposium is free for all students, faculty, staff and community.

Unity Among Us:  A Community Dialogue
Patterson Public Library

This event features an open discussion on the experiences and interactions of the Lubbock area African and black citizens, and how the community collectively works toward improvement.  For more information, contact Kathleen McPherson at Kathleen.mcpherson@ttuhsc.edu.

Thursday, March 15 at 7 p.m.

Def Tech:  Poetry Across the Plains
Student Union Building on the Texas Tech University campus

Education and Career Fair
