Eleven School of Law alumni were admitted last month to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Eleven alumni from the Texas Tech University School of Law were admitted in April to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.
The eleven distinguished Tech Law alumni, accompanied by School of Law Dean Walter B, Huffman, Associate Dean Richard Rosen and Director of Alumni Relations Casey Carson, traveled to Washington, D.C. for the swearing-in ceremony.
Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, together with William K. Suter, clerk of the Supreme Court, joined the group at the Court for breakfast before the ceremony.
“This ceremony at our nation’s highest court was a unique opportunity for us to wave the Texas Tech banner and both recognize and thank some of our outstanding law school alumni,” Huffman said.
After being recognized by Chief Justice John Roberts, Huffman made the motion for the Tech Law Alumni to be admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Following the admission ceremony, the group listened to two legal cases being argued to the Court.
Later, Suter took the group on a special tour of the Supreme Court building.
"I deeply appreciate my old friend Bill Suter for making this special event even more special," Huffman. “Our law school has tremendously loyal, accomplished and supportive alumni and I am both pleased and proud that we could showcase some of our most supportive alumni in this national venue”
Alumni traveling in the delegation included M.C. Carrington, Mark Griffin, Tom Hall, Mike Henry, Roger Key, Bill Mateja, Doug Perrin, Mike Riddle, David Segrest, Wade Shelton and John Simpson.
