Texas Tech Receives Increased Federal Appropriations
The University and Health Sciences Center will receive approximately $13,242,898 in federal funding for fiscal year 2008.

Texas Tech University and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center will receive approximately $13,242,898 in federal funding for fiscal year 2008, Kent Hance, chancellor of the Texas Tech University system announced today (Dec. 21).
The appropriation total is an increase over the $11,802,000 received in FY06, the last comparable year. The House and Senate approved the FY08 omnibus appropriations bill earlier this week. It is now awaiting the president’s signature.
"This funding represents an enormous investment in Texas Tech – its students, faculty and researchers," said Hance. "Texas Tech is doing outstanding work that ranges from making our food supply safer, to improving border health, to research in pulsed power that could help keep our troops safe. The increase in funding indicates the confidence the federal government has in the work that is done here."
Hance also pointed to the strength of the Texas congressional delegation and applauded the efforts of Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn, U.S. Representatives Randy Neugebauer, Mike Conaway, Kay Granger, Mac Thornberry and Silvestre Reyes in guiding Texas Tech’s federal legislative agenda.
"These leaders worked with the entire Texas delegation to communicate the national and international significance of our projects to others in Washington," he said. "We are proud that Congress has recognized us as center of education and research excellence."
