The Lone Star Graduate Diversity Colloquium is a collective effort by all colleges and universities in Texas to expand the pool of prospective graduate students from which all graduate programs can recruit.  The primary purpose of this event is to encourage more underrepresented minorities, women and first-generation college students currently enrolled at Texas colleges and universities to stay in Texas to complete their graduate education. The colloquium is March 28 and 29 at Union Building.

Conference sessions address issues related to underrepresented groups and first-generation college students. Workshops include Applying to Graduate School, Preparing for Entrance Exams, and Funding Graduate School. There is also a graduate recruitment fair with more than 30 Texas universities represented.

“Hosting the Lone Star Colloquium further illustrates the significant investment that Texas Tech is making to remain a leader in the preparation of high achieving students from all backgrounds who hope to distinguish themselves through advanced education,” said Juan Munoz, special assistant to the president.

The colloquium, established in 2006 as a means to further the statewide Closing the Gaps Initiative, was hosted previously by Texas A&M University and University of Texas at Austin.
